Why a drink mix instead of only gels?
A drink mix gives you carbohydrate, sodium and fluid together, on a steady schedule, without carrying a gel for every 20 to 30 minutes. Many athletes use a carb drink as their main fuel and gels or food as a top-up.
How many carbs per hour?
General guidance for sessions over about 2.5 hours is 60 to 90 g of carbohydrate per hour, built up in training. One serve of CORE covers 85 g, so one bottle per hour is a simple way to plan it. Our race fuel plan builder works out your own numbers from your weight, sweat rate, event and the forecast.
